Ecotropa introduces the uniqueness and values of the reserve "Iron Gate", with impressions of life in the Arkhangelsk exile of A.S. Green and his wife V.P. Grinevskaya.
The trail starts from the eastern border of the reserve, then goes along the existing forest road to the Karas – lakes system. Here on the shore of the lake you can relax and have a snack, as well as sit with a fishing rod and, if you're lucky, catch pike, burbot, crucian carp or perch.
Numerous bays of lakes with thickets of reeds and sedges are favorable for nesting of waterfowl. Mallard, sviyaz, whistler teal, turpan are common here. In years with a low water level, gray gulls, river terns, large snails nest on grass islands, and there are pogonish.
Then the route continues along the forest trail. Fields of karst craters developed on sandy sediments of water-glacial origin are suitable to the south of Karasozer. Locals call them "murga".
For the convenience of tourists, information stands, direction signs and color markings are placed along the route.

Do not forget to take comfortable shoes, water, tea in a thermos and food for a light snack. We urge you to take with you all the garbage that you brought into the forest!
